LEDAS to Distribute ASCON’s C3D Modeling Kernel Internationally

LEDAS deploys long-term experience in marketing high-tech CAD components to promote international sales of ASCON’s new C3D kernel

St-Petersburg and Novosibirsk, Russia: 31 May 2012 – ASCON, the largest Russian CAD vendor and the developer of KOMPAS-3D modeling software, and LEDAS Ltd., the leading service provider in the field of engineering software development, today jointly announced a new distribution agreement. With this agreement, LEDAS becomes the international distributor of ASCON’s new C3D modeling kernel. C3D technology allows developers to combine into one product 2D and 3D modelers, solvers, and data converters because it consists of three closely integrated components:

  • C3D Modeler module for geometric modeling
  • C3D Solver module for parameterization
  • C3D Converter module for data translation
C3D is the kernel used by the well-known KOMPAS-3D MCAD design software, and so for nearly two decades now it has been developed in parallel with KOMPAS-3D. Well before ASCON released C3D on the market a month ago, the two underwent quality testing by thousands of end users on hundreds of thousands of mechanical models.

“C3D is a state-of-the-art modeling kernel that provides CAD vendors all the functions their software needs, without any of the limitations that burden kernels developed many years ago,” said Maxim Bogdanov, CEO of ASCON. “Even though we have an excellent distribution channel here in Russia, we feel that our new C3D product should not be limited to local Russian market. And so we are promoting it internationally for use by CAD developers around the world. This is why we debuted C3D on the international stage earlier this year at the COFES 2012 think tank in the United States.”

“LEDAS is the reseller for several CAD technology components, including LGS, the 2D and 3D constraint solver, and a variational direct modeling module from Bricsys. We are happy to add C3D to our line of high-end CAD components that we as a value-added reseller can offer to our customers,” added Alexey Ershov, CEO of LEDAS. “LEDAS software engineers have been working on C3D to implement variational direct modeling technology inside of KOMPAS-3D. Our experience is a great reason for choosing LEDAS as a reseller of C3D.”
