Russian IT will grow through technological parks, one in Akademgorodok

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has visited Academgorodok in Novosibirsk. The goal of the visit was to discuss the questions related to the innovative technologies development and building of a specialized technological park in the area of information technologies.
As a probe, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation, proposed to build several IT parks in Dubna, Chernogolovka, Saint-Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk. Having an advanced research basis, highly-qualified labor resources from the leading Russian Universities, and a number of existing IT companies working in innovative businesses, these cities should become a ground to realize the federal strategy of industry and enterprises development. This should also help to make a transition of natural resources dependent economics to science intensive economics.
The discussion of the information technologies development took place in Novosibirsk Academgorodok not without a reason. This is the location where the links between science, education and production are most strong. Tens of research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the famous Novosibirsk State University closely situated in the middle of Siberian forest is a huge working laboratory.
By the first of March, the State Duma should receive for consideration a draft bill about technological parks for innovative technologies development. In particular, the technological zones supposed to have preferences in taxation, preferential export duties on the produced goods and services. The Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences has allocated a site to build the first line of technological park buildings in Academgorodok this year. So, in the nearest future Academgorodok will be a large experimental project to examine Russian IT specialists and managers in innovations.
